  • How does an IV drip work?
IV drips deliver saline solution through a small catheter and tubing directly into the bloodstream. This solution can include medications, vitamins and nutrient supplements as well. During treatment, a nurse inserts an IV line which is attached to a bag of saline solution. Yes, there is a small poke with a small needle, but once the vein is accessed, the needle comes out and the plastic catheter is left in its place. The bag is hung above the patient's head, so that gravity can allow the fluid to drip and be carried into the veins over time. The duration of a single treatment varies from person to person, but typically lasts 45-60 minutes. The same IV drips, equipment, and processes used by Drip IV Portugal are also used in hospitals and clinics as part of routine care.
